Crossfit: The sport of sport. Functional Fitness. A kick in the backside of traditional training (and the participants). This is a record of our exploits. . .
I can powerclean 225, and front squat 225, but I was trying to do honest-to-goodness squat cleans with good technique. First attempt, I smacked my knee coming up and lost it then. Second attempt I caught it a little forward and lost it. I was pretty tired at the third attempt. Main thing I'm looking forward to at an affiliate is technique coaching.
Guys, check out the beachcrossfit video on mainpage today. It is awesome gymnastics stuff. I emailed Jeannie, the lady in charge there at Virginia Beach. Hopefully she'll respond. I was complimenting her and her team on the great stuff they are doing. I'd rather be a great gymnast than anything else. Body control man...i'm on the up and up with Beastskills.com Thanks Rob! Gonna build my parallelets soon!
This one was a lot more fun to do at home than at the ol' basement gym in town. Dropping the weights after they're past the waist is a lot easier on the back. I planned on doing more technique work on this one since it's a weaker movement (then again, which movement isn't. . .) for me. I warmed up with some of the CFWU and also played with ring dips (getting better somewhat quickly) and a barbell complex at 95 lbs. If you haven't watched Burgener in the recent journal video about fixing the pull, I highly recommend it. Anyhow, my results:
135-155-155-155-155-155-165(PR)
I still need to get some small change plates (2.5 and 5). On another note, the gym is growing. Squat racks, spotting racks, and a bench (plus some block chalk) are on the way. WOO HOO!!
BTW Paul, I second that desire for a technique coach. I may contact CF Pittsburgh and see if I can schedule a few sessions for coaching. Alan, a couple places for you to find skills for body control:
beastskills.com drillsandskills.com american-gymnast.com (look under the AG training center; free membership required) americanparkour.com
Good luck. I'm still a ways away from the strength needed but will get there eventually.

okay so I'm going to try and upload the video of me squat cleaning 225. I took videos of all my lifts today with my camera.
It went as follows:
135, 185, 195, 205, 215, 215, 225

Rob, I'll be your belay slave if you let me live in your garage and use your gym.
Al--awesome! I'm 60+ pounds heavier than you and had trouble at that weight. Well done!
