Crossfit: The sport of sport. Functional Fitness. A kick in the backside of traditional training (and the participants). This is a record of our exploits. . .
Don't know whether or not to call this one a success, but: 3:29, 3:26, DNF, DNF (on treadmill)
On the plus side, I finished 2 800m runs at POSE speed. Based on prior comments on this blog, that was a short term goal of mine. On the down side, I didn't finish the workout.
Observations: In each of the first two rounds, the first .25mi felt almost too easy after doing all of my running at 9.0-9.3mph. I did today's at 8.6 and 8.7 respectively. The first round really didn't start feeling difficult until about 2:45 into the leg. The second felt hard after about 2min. The last 30sec of the second round felt brutal. Limiting factor was definitely breathing. That's what stopped me in each of the next 2 rounds (about 1min in each time).
Takeaways: I'm even more convinced that running fast and adding distance at a fast pace is more conducive to training for my goal distances (1.5mi, 5K and (maybe) 10K) than is long slow distance running. I'll stick with it.
